Who Should Attend: Teachers K-3, Special Education teachers K-12 implementing school and district literacy plans, reading coaches
The Move on When Reading , Reading Foundations Course is strongly aligned to the AZ Common Core Standards - ELA: Foundational Skills (K-5), Reading Standards for Literature and Informational Text (K-5) and Language Standards (K- 5). The content includes current research and evidence based practices that are necessary for the development of the technical skills of reading along with academic vocabulary and deep comprehension. Important components of an effective comprehensive reading program designed to develop proficient readers, competent writers and critical thinkers are included in this material. While the training is designed for K-5 instruction, it provides excellent information for K-3 Teachers and Special Education Teachers K-12 implementing school and district literacy plans.
Units to include:
- Foundations of Reading
- Learning to Read and Spell: A National Problem and Recommended Solutions
- Basic Principals of Reading Assessment
- The Structure of Language
- Graphophonemic Awareness
-Teaching Word Identification and Spelling Fluency
- Vocabulary
-Comprehension
Participants will be provided with a supporting reference book.

Cancellation/Refund Policy
Cancellations made in writing will be refunded in full. Cancellation requests may be emailed to ricky.hernandez@schools.pima.gov or to Pima County School Supt’s Office, 200 N. Stone Ave, Tucson, AZ 85701. Cancellation requested must be received by 5:00PM on June 7, 2013 or a refund will not be issued.
Payment Policy
Payment in full for your registration must be received by 5:00PM on June 7, 2013. Receipt of a school district purchase order does not constitute payment of registration fee. If full payment is not received, the registration will be cancelled. Registrations may be paid with a major credit card, personal check, school check, or money order.
