Greetings! My name is W. John Williams and I am a candidate for the Altar Valley Elementary School District #51 covering Robles Junction and Three Points. I wanted to share with you my background and thoughts relating to our school district, as you contemplate who you will vote for to fill the school board positions this November. I have worked in the public sector, in the fire service, for forty years and have provided administrative and financial oversight to multi-million dollar budgets and provided leadership and direction to organizations employing many personnel. I have a Masters Degree in Public Administration, as well as, two other college degrees. As a board member one must balance fiscal oversight without sacrificing financial vision. Operating capital for the next several years will be limited, but, with planning and collaboration I feel we can maintain our status quo and move forward to some degree. The quality of education for our children is paramount and we at the local level must do our best to manage our money wisely while getting the State of Arizona to allocate the funding levels necessary to complete our children's education. Our per capita spending for each student within the state must be increased. The school board will face many challenges in the upcoming year. I feel I have the skills, knowledge and abilities to carry out the duties of a Altar Valley Elementary School District #51 board member if elected.
My wife Cher Williams and myself have lived in the community for over five years and are very active in community affairs and improvements to the quality of life for our children, working parents and our seniors. We have raised six boys and clearly understand the daily challenges and stress that parenting, child care, and education present. On November 4 th , 2008 I urge you to vote and humbly ask for your support and vote for my candidacy to our school board…together we can make a difference.
¡Saludos! Me llamo W. John Williams y soy candidato al Distrito Escolar Primario Núm. 51 de Altar Valley, que cubre Robles Junction y Three Points. Quise compartir con ustedes mi experiencia y mis opiniones con referencia a nuestro distrito escolar mientras ustedes piensan para quién van a votar para ocupar los puestos de la junta directiva escolar en noviembre. He trabajado en el sector público, en el servicio de bomberos, durante cuarenta años y he provisto manejo administrativo y financiero con presupuestos de varios millones de dólares, y he sido líder y he dirigido organizaciones que empleaban a muchas personas. Tengo un título de máster en la administración pública y otros dos títulos universitarios. Como miembro de la junta directiva, uno tiene que encontrar el equilibrio entre el manejo fiscal y no sacrificar la visión económica. Habrá límites a los fondos operacionales durante los próximos años, pero con planificación y colaboración, confío en que podamos mantener la condición actual y adelantar algo. Es esencial la calidad de la educación para nuestros niños y al nivel local tenemos que hacer lo mejor para manejar sabiamente el dinero mientras consigamos que el estado de Arizona distribuya los fondos necesarios para completar la educación de nuestros niños. Hay que incrementar los gastos per cápita para cada alumno en el estado. La junta directiva enfrentará muchos retos en este año próximo. Si me eligen, opino que tengo las aptitudes, conocimientos y capacidad para cumplir las tareas de un miembro de la junta directiva del Distrito Escolar Primario Núm. 51 de Altar Valley.
Mi esposa Cher Williams y yo hemos vivido en la comunidad durante más de cinco años y tomamos parte activa en los asuntos de la comunidad y las mejoras a la calidad de la vida para nuestros jóvenes, padres trabajadores y personas mayores. Hemos criado a seis hijos y entendemos muy bien los retos diarios y el estrés que presentan el ser padres, encontrar cuidados para los niños y la educación. El 4 de noviembre de 2008 les animo a votar, y humildemente pido su apoyo y que voten por mí para ocupar un puesto en la junta directiva escolar…. Juntos podemos tener un efecto positivo.
