I believe that education is one of the most important things we can give to our children.  I would like the opportunity to learn more about the Marana Unified School District and to give back to our community in another way.  I would like to serve on the MUSD Governing Board to see what I can do to help continue the high quality of the education in Marana.

As a district, MUSD should continue to attract and recruit highly qualified employees with diverse backgrounds.  We need to provide high quality training for staff.  MUSD needs to retain highly performing personnel and keep turnover as low as possible.

Communication is vital between students, staff and parents.  As a community, I believe that we are entitled to know district policies, procedures, programs and priorities.  School should be a safe, secure environment for our children.  There should be mutual respect throughout the district.  This goes for students and parents, as well as staff.  Students should be afforded the opportunity to make healthy choices.  I believe that students should have the opportunity to grow.  They should be given the opportunity to meet or exceed the academic standards. 

I am a parent of 3 children in the Marana Unified School District.  I believe that volunteering is something that is so important to our community.  I want my children to understand that it is so important to give back.  I feel it is best to lead by example.  I have been on the Parent Teachers & Friends (PTF) at our elementary school since 2003.  I have been the President of the PTF for the past 5 years.  I have reached out to the other parent organizations throughout Marana to see what works for them.  I want the schools to work together so that we can do the best for the children in Marana.  If we work together as a community we can do more for our children.  We get fresh ideas and when working as a team we can achieve more.

In addition to the PTF, I am a board member for my children’s swim team since 2006.  I also coach AYSO soccer for the past 5 years.  With the work I have done with the district I was honored to be asked to Co-Chair the MUSD Budget Override Committee in 2007.  I did so with integrity, hard work and a great team of people.  We worked hard to get the override passed.  I believe that family participation and involvement in education is very important.  I want to show my children how important it is to get involved in our community and education system.

Opino que la educación es una de las cosas más importantes que podemos dar a nuestros niños. Quisiera tener la oportunidad para aprender más sobre el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Marana (siglas en inglés MUSD) y dar algo a la comunidad de otra manera. Me gustaría participar en la Junta Directiva de MUSD para ver qué puedo hacer para ayudar a continuar la calidad alta de la educación en Marana.

Como distrito, MUSD debe continuar atrayendo y contratando a empleados bien calificados con antecedentes diversos. Debemos proveer capacitación de calidad alta al personal. MUSD necesita mantener al personal que rinde mucho y evitar que se marche la gente a otros trabajos.

La comunicación entre alumnos, personal y padres es vital. Creo que la comunidad tiene el derecho de conocer las normas, procedimientos, programas y prioridades del distrito. La escuela debe ser un ambiente seguro para nuestros niños. Debe existir el respeto mutuo en todo el distrito. Esto se aplica a alumnos, padres y personal. Se les debe dar a los alumnos la oportunidad de optar por cosas saludables. Opino que los alumnos deben tener la oportunidad de crecer. Se les debe dar la oportunidad para llegar a, o sobrepasar, las normas académicas.

Soy padre de 3 hijos en el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Marana. Creo que hacer trabajos voluntarios es algo sumamente importante para nuestra comunidad. Quiero que mis hijos entiendan que es muy importante dar. Creo que es mejor dirigir poniendo el ejemplo. Participo en Padres, Maestros y Amigos (siglas en inglés PTF) desde hace 5 años. He contactado con las otras organizaciones de padres en Marana para ver lo que hacen con éxito. Quiero que las escuelas trabajen juntas para hacer lo mejor para los niños en Marana. Si trabajamos juntos como una comunidad, podemos hacer más por nuestros niños. Nos llegan ideas frescas y cuando trabajamos en equipo podemos lograr más. 

Además de PTF, participo en la junta directiva del equipo de natación de mis hijos desde 2006. También soy entrenador de fútbol AYSO desde hace 5 años. Con el trabajo que realicé para el distrito, me honraron con una invitación a ser co-presidente del Comité de MUSD para sobrepasar el presupuesto en 2007. Lo hice con integridad, mucho trabajo y un gran equipo. Trabajamos mucho para que se aprobara sobrepasar el presupuesto. Creo que es muy importante la participación en familia e involucrarse en la educación. Quiero demostrarles a mis hijos lo importante que es involucrarse en la comunidad y el sistema escolar.
