Education is very important to me.  I believe in public education and that much of what our children get out of school comes from what we as parents put into it, whether it be homework help, volunteering in the classrooms or working on district committees.  I have been an advocate for education by volunteering in the schools and for the district for the past eight years.  I’ve worked in the classrooms, served as treasurer for the Primary School PTO, president of the Intermediate School PTP and treasurer of the district’s political action committee Keep Kids First.  In addition, I have served on several district committees, testified before the state Joint Legislative Budget Committee on behalf of the district and attended School Facilities Board meetings in support of the district’s needs.

Hard work pays off; our efforts on the Keep Kids First committee resulted in smaller class size in kindergarten through third grade, security fencing and cameras, playground equipment and shade, and new school busses.

Due to continuing growth, our district’s most immediate needs are new schools and facilities to accommodate this increase and ensuring that the administration, teachers and staff have the support and tools necessary to improve upon the high level of education that our students currently receive.  I also believe that communication with residents of the district needs to be strengthened to improve community support in dealing with these issues.

Raised in Tucson, I have a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arizona.  I moved into the Sahuarita Unified School District 16 years ago when my husband Garrett and I were married.  We have two sons currently attending SUSD schools – Carter is in 6^th grade at Sahuarita Middle School and Payson is in 4^th grade at Sahuarita Intermediate School.  In addition to my involvement with the district I also volunteer my time to 4H, Copper Hills Little League, the Sahuarita Stingrays Swim Team and my local church.

I respectfully ask for your vote for School Board Member of the Sahuarita Unified School District.

Para mí la educación es muy importante. Creo en la educación pública y que mucho de lo que sacan nuestros niños de la escuela es resultado de lo que contribuyamos los padres, sea ayuda con las tareas, trabajos voluntarios en las aulas o trabajo en los comités del distrito. He abogado por la educación haciendo trabajos voluntarios en las escuelas y para el distrito durante los últimos ocho años. He trabajado en las aulas, he sido tesorera de la Organización PTO de la escuela primaria, presidente de la PTP de la escuela intermedia y tesorera del comité de acción política Mantener Primeros a los Niños en el distrito. Además, he participado en varios comités del distrito, en nombre del distrito he dado testimonio ante el Comité Conjunto Legislativo sobre el Presupuesto en el estado, y he asistido a las reuniones de la Junta de Instalaciones Escolares para apoyar las necesidades del distrito.

El trabajo duro produce su beneficio; nuestros esfuerzos del comité Mantener Primeros a los Niños dieron resultado con tamaños más pequeños de clase en preescolar hasta el grado tres, alambres y cámaras para la seguridad, equipos de recreo y sombra, y nuevos autobuses escolares.

Debido al crecimiento constante, las necesidades más inmediatas de nuestro distrito son nuevas escuelas e instalaciones para acomodar este aumento y asegurar que la administración, los maestros y el personal cuenten con el apoyo y las herramientas necesarias para mejorar el nivel alto de educación que ya reciben los alumnos. También creo que la comunicación con los residentes del distrito tiene que fortalecerse para mejorar el apoyo de la comunidad para abordar estos asuntos.

Me crié en Tucson, soy licenciada de la Universidad de Arizona en ciencias. Me trasladé al Distrito Escolar Unificado de Sahuarita hace 16 años cuando mi esposo Garrett y yo nos casamos. Tenemos dos hijos que actualmente asisten a escuelas en el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Sahuarita (siglas en inglés SUSD) – Carter está en el grado sexto en la escuela media de Sahuarita y Payson está en el grado cuarto en la escuela intermedia de Sahuarita. Además de estar involucrada con el distrito, también hago trabajos voluntarios con 4H, la Liga Menor de Copper Hills, el Equipo de Natación Sahuarita Stingrays y mi iglesia local.

Con respeto les pido que voten por mí para ser miembro de la Junta Directiva del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Sahuarita.
